I. General

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a public-benefit federal enterprise for international cooperation. We work as a federal enterprise under private law. Our aim is to achieve the development-policy objective of improving the living conditions of people worldwide and conserving the natural resources on which livelihoods depend.

II. What is personal data?

“Personal data” means any information or pieces of information that could identify you either directly (e.g. your name) or indirectly (e.g. through pseudonymized data such as a unique ID number). This means that personal data includes things like email, usernames, user generated content, sex, age rage, address, (etc.). It could also include unique numerical identifiers like your computer’s IP address or your mobile device’s MAC address, as well as cookies.

In practice, direct identifying data are:

  • first and last names;
  • postal/email addresses/phone numbers;
  • Date of birth;
  • Photo ID;
  • Candidate-generated content;
  • Information about your education and work experience. Etc.

Indirect identification data are:

Cookies: Cookies are small files that are written to your computer as a result of your past browsing on a website. These cookies help us to understand your browsing experience and how you use our website.

III. What data do we collect from you and how do we use it?

After completing the application form, you will receive an email in which you can confirm that your contact information and your application are genuine. You can revoke the application at any time. If you cancel your application, all your personal data will be deleted from our database.

We collect personal data exclusively for the purpose of processing the applications submitted or inform you of new job opportunities at GIZ Cameroon.

The following data are collected when you apply through our platform :

  • first and last names;
  • postal/email addresses/phone numbers;
  • Candidate-generated content;
  • Information about your education and work experience.

What personal data may we receive from you directly or resulting from your interaction with us?

Depending on how much you are interacting with us, those data may include:

  • Application letter;
  • Recommendations;
  • Work experience / CV;

  • Organize the recruitment process, assessments, interviews;
  • Share data within GIZ Cameroon to people involved in your recruitment process;
  • Evaluate your competencies in a recruitment perspective;
  • Respond to your questions and otherwise interact with you ;
  • Provide you with similar job opportunities;
  • Reimburse potential expenses linked to the recruitment process.

3/ Job Alert Subscription

What personal data may we receive from you directly or resulting from your interaction with us?

the data may include:

  • Email address;
  • Name
  • Address
  • Work experience / CV;
  • Browsing history;

How and why we may use your data ?


  • Send you job openings (where you have asked us to) which may be tailored to the job offers you have interacted with;
  • Run analytics
  • Keep an up to date suppression list if you have asked not to be contacted

What is the legal basis for using your personal data ?

  • Consent : to send you communications about jobs newly available
  • Legitimate interest, to tailor our job related communications
  • Legal Grounds, to keep your details on a suppression list if you have asked us not to send you any alert anymore

V. Duration of data retention

1/ Online Browsing

Data retention duration: 6 months (Cookies expiration date)

2/ Job Alert Subscription

Data retention duration: When registering as a candidate , you may chose to opt-in to similar job alert subscription. In that case, your opt-in will stay until:

  • you decide to opt-out,
  • or after max 6 months if you are not a candidate
  • or when your candidate profile is removed(see data conservation for candidates).

3/ Recruitment Process

Data retention duration: 2 years

User Generated Content Information collected when you submitted some content on our platform.

VI. Data Deletion

The removal of job opportunities subscriptions after 6 months and applicants related data after 2 years is part a manual protocol managed by GIZ Cameroon. You can contact us at at any moment to request the erasure of your application and all related data. This process is completed with the support of our service provider Careerbuilder. VII. Data Storage

Our data are hosted in Ireland in Dublin.

VIII. Recipients of personal data

  • Data are not passed on to third parties.
  • As a general principle, data will not be transmitted to third states

IX. Reference to user rights

You are entitled to:

  • to object to data processing,
  • enquire about your personal data and its processing
  • to have this corrected if necessary, or to request restriction of processing or the erasure of the data

The data will then be erased. Please contact us via the following email: to request the complete removal of your application and personal data from the system.
